We had another wonderful summer inviting new and returning campers, staff, and volunteers to come spend time with us at Shekinah. The summer was full of laughter and learning as we took time for activities, fostering friendships, and learning about Jesus’ teaching of discipleship. This summer's bible curriculum focused on Luke 5: 1-11 which details the calling of the first disciples. Campers and staff were reminded of their call to be a disciple, learned about the teachings of Jesus, and how to use our individual gifts and talents to be a disciple in our own individual way. Thanks to our bible instructors who volunteered their time to guide and be curious alongside our campers as we explored discipleship. 

This summer laughter could be heard from the tip top of Quill Hill, Sunset Ridge, as well as down in the valley at campfire circle, initiative tasks, and in the field playing wide games and frisbee golf. Campers learned about the natural ecosystems at Shekinah, as well as different methods of fire building. Campers soared through the trees and climbed above them on the Flying Fox and Jericho Wall. It was my delight to watch the fun and the growth in each person as they found their place at Shekinah. 

This summer we had six weeks of summer camp with 122 campers ranging from ages seven to seventeen. Six amazing Counselors, four wonderful Counselors in Training, and a stellar Summer Program Director who all helped me find my place at Shekinah for my first summer as Program Director. Along with our summer staff we had great kitchen staff and volunteers who kept everyone well fed and full of energy.

As we remember the summer fondly entering into the new season of fall, we ask that your thoughts and prayers remain with all those at Shekinah, and those who will find their way back come summer. Summer Camp is already on my mind and I ask that it also be on yours. I invite you to consider joining us next summer either for the first time or after a long time as a camper, staff, or volunteer.
